Make Your Own Lip Balm at the Lip Lab
A make your own lip balm choice gives every guest something to create, even the ones who never wear color. The Lip Lab is our hosted lip bar. Alongside lip cream and gloss, it includes a lip balm option.
We keep the description simple here, because your host explains it at the bar. As a result, it's a gentle fit for mixed groups. Partners, dads, grandparents, and kids can all share one table, too. Also, once our Mokena studio opens in January 2027, guests can make their own lip color there by appointment or walk-in.

Why offer a make your own lip balm option
Not every guest wants a bold lip. Some prefer a bare, natural look. Others, however, simply want something practical. So a lip balm option keeps them at the table instead of on the sidelines.
That matters most at blended gatherings. For example, a family reunion might include teen cousins, busy moms, and a grandfather. Even so, each person can leave with something made by hand.
Meanwhile, guests who love color mix lip cream or gloss right beside them. Everyone shares one bar and one host team. As a result, the whole party feels included.
Tell us when part of your group prefers a no color lip option. Then we can talk through the lip balm choice in your proposal.

What's at the bar, and beside it
The lip balm option lives at the Lip Lab. Then other stations can join it for a longer gathering.

Lip Balm Option
Guests who want a simple, color-free choice can make lip balm. Then your host explains the process right at the bar.

Lip Cream
Lip cream is a liquid lipstick that dries to a soft, velvety matte. It suits guests who want a polished look.

High-Shine Gloss
Gloss brings a bright, glassy shine. Meanwhile, guests choose from the 16-shade swatch board.

Bath and Body Bar
Bath salts, scrubs, oils, botanicals, and a handmade bath bomb make a relaxing companion. No water is needed.

Skincare Bar
Licensed estheticians host this bar, where guests make a moisturizer, body butter, lotion, or scrub. It suits smaller groups best.

Candy Bar
Sweets in glass apothecary jars sit on our own carts. It's the quickest stop of the night.
Reserve your Lip Lab date
Kids and teen parties start at $475, and adult events are quoted per event. Your itemized proposal arrives within 2 business days.
Make your own lip balm ideas for mixed groups
Lip balm for mixed groups solves a real hosting puzzle. Here are three ways to use it.
The Lip Lab welcomes guests ages 5 and up. So kids can join the same party as the grown-ups.
Gatherings where everyone joins in
A DIY lip balm party works best when your guest list is wonderfully varied. These moments fit it well.
Baby showers
Guests of every style can join in, so the whole room takes part.
Graduation open houses
Usually, classmates, relatives, and neighbors drift through all afternoon. Also, the bar gives them something to do between conversations.
Father's Day gatherings
When you want dads and granddads involved, a make your own lip balm choice lets them make something, too. Even so, the moms can still mix color.
Church fellowship events
A hosted bar in a fellowship hall often feels welcoming to every age.
Wisconsin and Indiana celebrations
Local teams in Milwaukee and Indianapolis bring the same Lip Lab. So relatives there enjoy the same experience.
Kids' and teen parties
Young guests have their own pages. See lip gloss parties for kids and lip gloss parties for teens.
Spaces that work well
Plan on about 12 x 6 feet plus two 6-foot tables. No tables? We bring them for $30 each.
Family rooms
Usually, a big family room keeps every generation close together.
Clubhouses
Neighborhood clubhouses handle a reunion crowd, and we add hosts as needed, too.
Fellowship halls
Church halls also give plenty of room for long tables and mingling.
Hotel suites
Wedding weekends often gather families in one suite, so the bar comes there.
Mokena party room
From January 2027, our private room seats up to 40, with a kitchen for your own food.
Planning a make your own lip balm party
- Call or book online. First, tell us your date and how many guests are coming. Also, mention who might prefer the lip balm option.
- Review your proposal. Within 2 business days, we send an itemized proposal. Then a 50% deposit holds the date.
- Get the details. Before the party, you receive full ingredient and allergen disclosures. Share them with any guest who asks.
- We arrive early. Our team sets up 1 hour ahead, with linens and decor in place.
- Enjoy the party. Hosts guide every guest while you relax. Afterward, we pack out completely.
Custom labels are a paid add-on. Order them when you book, because printing takes about 4 weeks.

Make your own lip balm questions
What flavors or ingredients are in the lip balm?
We share full ingredient and allergen disclosures before your party. That way, you have the exact details in writing.
Do you apply anything to guests?
No. We don't apply makeup. Each guest makes her or his own product, guided by a host.
Can guests choose color instead?
Of course. Lip cream and high-shine gloss sit on the same bar, with a 16-shade swatch board.
Is the Lip Lab a good fit for kids?
Yes. Kids ages 5 and up can join, because the Lip Lab includes a Kids tier. Ask us which option suits your group.
Can I stop by the Mokena studio?
Yes, once it opens in January 2027. Guests can make their own lip color there by appointment or walk-in. Appointments come first, and walk-ins are welcome when the team can support them.
Where is the Mokena studio?
It's at 19060 Everett Blvd, Suite 107, in Mokena. So it sits close to New Lenox, Frankfort, Tinley Park, and Orland Park.
Do you travel to the southwest suburbs?
Yes. That's our home base, including Homer Glen, Lockport, Lemont, Joliet, and Plainfield.
Do you offer the Lip Lab in Milwaukee or Indianapolis?
Yes. In fact, each city has local staff and equipment. We serve Brookfield and Mequon near Milwaukee, and Carmel and Fishers near Indianapolis.
How much space do you need?
Plan on about 12 x 6 feet and two 6-foot tables. If needed, we bring tables for $30 each.
How do larger groups work?
Two to three hosts serve about 100 guests over 3 hours. For a bigger crowd, we add hosts.
