Muslim Weddings · Nikah and Walima
A Graceful Walima Your Guests Will Remember
These walima ideas begin with the feast and the joy that follow a nikah. The nikah is the Islamic marriage contract and ceremony, often led by an imam or officiant. Then the walima is the reception or feast afterward, traditionally hosted by the groom's family.
We plan for the walima only, never the nikah ceremony itself. Before anything else, you should know that our usual perfume bar is alcohol-based. Because many observant Muslim families avoid alcohol in perfume, we offer attars upon request. Attars are traditional perfume oils with no alcohol, so please ask for them when you book.

Understanding the Nikah and the Walima
The nikah is the heart of an Islamic marriage. In many families, the couple consents before witnesses, and an imam or officiant often gives a short sermon and leads prayers. The mahr is the gift the groom gives the bride, agreed as part of the contract. Some families hold the nikah at a mosque, while others hold it at home or at the venue.
The walima comes next. It is a feast that shares the good news of the marriage with the wider community. Traditionally, the groom's family hosts it. In many Pakistani and Indian Muslim families, the walima is the last big event of wedding week, after the mehndi and the baraat (the groom's arrival with his family). Meanwhile, Arab, African, South Asian and American Muslim families each bring their own customs, so no two walimas look quite alike.
Many walimas are generous and calm rather than loud. Guests greet the couple on a stage, share a long meal and linger to talk. Some walimas are women-only, and others have separate seating for women and men. So the best walima ideas give guests a gentle thing to do between greeting the couple and sitting down to eat.
Customs We Plan Around at a Walima
Even lovely walima ideas need to respect the room. So we ask about these early, and then the setup fits both the hall and the family.
Women-only rooms
Our event hosts are women. As a result, we serve a women-only walima, or the women's side of a divided hall, with ease.
The groom's family as host
Traditionally the groom's side plans the walima. So we coordinate with whoever is hosting, plus the venue coordinator if there is one.
Perfume without alcohol
Request attars when you book if your family avoids alcohol in perfume. Since our spray bar uses perfumer's alcohol, we never assume.
Prayer breaks
If the walima spans a prayer time, we pause the line and keep things quiet. Later, guests return to the table whenever they are ready.
Walima Ideas for Scent, Color and Sweets
Choose the stations that suit your guest list. Often, a large walima pairs one fast scent station with one hands-on table.
Custom Perfume Bar
The Signature format serves 85 to 100 guests an hour, which suits a big Muslim wedding reception. Guests pick from up to 12 house scents, and each spray is an eau de parfum. Oud, sandalwood and jasmine are among the notes on our bar.
Attars on Request
Attars upon request give alcohol-conscious guests a traditional choice. Ask at booking, and we will plan the attar table beside the spray bar or in its place.
Luxury Lip Lab
At the Lip Lab, guests mix their own lip gloss or lip color. With 2 to 3 hosts, it serves about 100 guests in roughly 3 hours, so it fits a long evening on the women's side.
Skincare Bar
Our skincare bar makes custom skincare fresh for each event. It suits a smaller ladies' luncheon, where guests can take their time.
Luxury Candy Bar
A Luxury Candy Bar on our carts works as a sweet table after dinner. Share your dietary guidelines, such as gelatin-free candy, and we will talk through what we can find.
Digital Photo Booth
With our Digital Photo Booth, guests take photos and download them on the spot. Afterward, you receive a link to the full gallery.
Three Walima Ideas With Meaning
Each one grows from walima customs. Of course, your family's taste sets the final look.
Ivory and Gold Reception
Many walimas lean toward soft, elegant tones after the bright colors of the mehndi. So a perfume bar on a luxury counter in ivory and gold sits naturally beside the stage.
Names and Date on Every Bottle
Custom labels with the couple's names and the walima date make a lasting favor. They are a paid add-on, printed in advance, so order them at booking.
A Sweet Send-Off
In many South Asian families, dates are shared after the nikah and mithai (South Asian sweets) follow. Our candy cart can carry that idea forward, styled in your colors.
Two studios
Smaller Gatherings at Our Mokena and Chicago Studios
Some families hold an intimate dinner for close relatives after the nikah. For that, our Mokena studio opens in January 2027 at 19060 Everett Blvd, Suite 107. The private party room seats up to 40 guests, and its kitchen lets you bring your own food.
Guests can also walk in or book an appointment there to make perfume or lip color. In addition, a second studio is planned for Chicago, opening in late 2028. For a walima larger than 40, we come to your banquet hall, hotel ballroom or social hall, as long as the venue allows outside vendors.

Pricing Your Walima Stations
Adult perfume bars start at $500, quoted per event rather than per guest. Then guest count, format and added stations shape your final quote. Visit our pricing page for more detail.

Walima Ideas and Questions From Families
Do you set up at the nikah ceremony?
No. We serve the walima and other celebrations, not the nikah itself. That ceremony belongs to your family and your imam.
Does your perfume contain alcohol?
The usual bar does. Each spray is an eau de parfum made with perfumer's alcohol, which is why we offer attars upon request.
What exactly are attars?
Attars are alcohol-free perfume oils with deep roots in South Asian and Arab tradition. They are worn directly on the skin.
Can your team work in a women-only hall?
Yes. Our event hosts are women, so the women's side can stay private.
Can we add the couple's names to bottles?
Yes, as a paid add-on. Custom labels are printed in advance and ordered at booking, since we don't print on site. See wedding customization options.
How many guests can you serve?
The Signature bar handles 85 to 100 guests an hour. Blending bars move about 50 an hour, so large walimas usually choose Signature.
Can the candy follow our dietary guidelines?
Tell us your guidelines early. We will talk through what we can source for your walima ideas, but we can't promise specific products.
Do you come to Milwaukee or Indianapolis?
Yes. We have teams in both cities, and we cover the whole Chicago area too.
