Your Traditions, Honored With Scent

Cultural wedding traditions carry the stories of a family, and scent has been part of many of them for centuries. From attar (a traditional alcohol-free perfume oil) at a South Asian wedding to oud at an Arab reception and rosewater at a Persian aroosi, fragrance often says welcome before anyone speaks.

Glitters & Grace brings a custom perfume bar, a Lip Lab and our other beauty bars to your celebration, then plans every detail around your customs. Also, a cultural holiday party, such as Diwali, Nowruz or Lunar New Year, works beautifully with our bars. So explore the celebrations below, or call us to talk through your own.

Why Scent Belongs in Cultural Wedding Traditions

In many cultures, fragrance is a form of hospitality. For example, many Arab families, especially in the Gulf, Yemen and Iraq, welcome guests with oud (a rich, woody fragrance) and bakhoor (scented wood chips burned like incense). Likewise, many South Asian families share attar, a traditional perfume oil, at weddings and holidays. In Persian homes, rosewater has long been part of the wedding table. Our own bar carries jasmine, sandalwood and oud, so these traditions feel at home.

So a perfume bar feels at home at these celebrations. Instead, it echoes something families already love. Guests sample, blend and take home a scent that will remind them of the night. Meanwhile, the bride, her mother and her aunts can visit the bar together.

Of course, every family celebrates differently. That is why each page below explains one tradition in plain English, then shows how our bars fit around it. In fact, we never replace your henna artist, musicians, caterer or officiant. We simply add a beautiful, hands-on corner that fits your day.

Attars on request. Our standard perfume bar makes an eau de parfum with perfumer's alcohol. For families who prefer alcohol-free perfume, attars (traditional alcohol-free perfume oils) are available on request when you book.

How We Plan Around Your Customs

Before your event, we ask about the customs that matter to your family. Then we plan our setup, timing and products around them. That way, the bars respect your cultural wedding traditions and feel like part of your day.

Alcohol-free options

Our eau de parfum is made with perfumer's alcohol. If your family avoids alcohol, ask for attars on request when you book, and we will plan the bar around them.

Women-only rooms

Some gatherings, such as some mehndi nights, henna nights and walimas, are for women only. Our event hosts are women, so we fit naturally into those rooms.

Timing and sacred moments

We set up an hour early and stay clear of prayers, ceremonies and performances. For example, we can plan around Shabbat or a nikah, then open the bar for the reception.

Dietary guidelines

For the candy bar, tell us your family's guidelines, such as gelatin-free or kosher candy. Then we will talk through what we can source for you.

How Pricing Works for Cultural Celebrations

Adult perfume bars start at $500 and are quoted per event, not per guest. Your proposal lists the bars, the guest count, and any attars or custom labels. Then you can adjust anything before you book.

Questions About Cultural Wedding Traditions and Our Bars

Is your perfume alcohol-free?

Our standard perfume bar makes an eau de parfum, which contains perfumer's alcohol. However, attars (alcohol-free perfume oils) are available on request. Simply ask when you book.

Do you provide henna, music or food?

No. Your henna artist, musicians, caterer and officiant are your own vendors. We add the perfume bar, Lip Lab and other beauty bars alongside them.

Can your team work in a women-only room?

Yes. Our event hosts are women, so we fit naturally into women-only gatherings such as some mehndi nights, henna nights and walimas.

Do you travel to Milwaukee and Indianapolis?

Yes. We have teams in both cities, and we travel across Chicagoland too.

Can we hold a small celebration at your Mokena studio?

Yes, once it opens in January 2027. The party room holds up to 40 guests and has a kitchen for your own food.

Can the perfume bottles carry our names?

Yes. Custom labels with names or your date are a paid add-on. We print them in advance, so please order them when you book.

How many guests can the perfume bar serve?

Our Signature perfume bar serves about 85 to 100 guests an hour, so it suits big receptions. Blending bars serve about 50 guests an hour.

What if my celebration isn't listed here?

Call us. After all, we plan around every family's cultural wedding traditions, and this page grows as we add more celebrations. See our FAQ for more answers.
