Persian Weddings · Aghd and Aroosi
A Fragrant Welcome for Your Aroosi
Our Persian wedding ideas begin with rosewater, the scent many Iranian families sprinkle to welcome guests and bless a new marriage. Then we carry that feeling into a custom perfume bar for an Iranian wedding.
An aroosi (the Persian word for wedding, often used for the reception) is a long and joyful night. So our perfume bar and Lip Lab give guests something lovely to do between dinner and dancing. Explore related traditions on our cultural celebrations page.
The Sofreh Aghd and the Night That Follows
In many Persian families, the ceremony centers on the sofreh aghd, often spread on fine fabric. The couple sits facing a mirror, called the mirror of fate, with a candelabra on either side. Honey, crystallized sugar, decorated flatbread, painted eggs, nuts, coins and a book of poetry or a holy book often fill the spread. Each item carries a wish for sweetness, plenty or light.
During the vows, happily married women in the family often hold a cloth above the couple. One of them gently rubs two sugar cones together over it, so sweetness falls on the marriage. Next, the officiant asks the bride for her consent. By custom, guests tease that she has gone to pick flowers, then to bring rosewater. Finally, on the third ask, she says yes. After that, the couple dips a finger in honey and feeds each other.
Persian families also include Muslim, Jewish, Christian (including Armenian and Assyrian), Baha'i and Zoroastrian households (Zoroastrianism is one of Iran's oldest faiths). Many couples are interfaith, too. So the officiant and the spread differ from home to home. Still, the warmth stays the same, so our Persian wedding ideas follow each family's lead. Meanwhile, the aroosi that follows is often a late night of dinner, dancing and family.

Planning Around the Aghd and a Late Aroosi
A few details shape every plan. So before we suggest any Persian wedding ideas, we ask about these first.
The sofreh comes first
We set the bars well away from the ceremony spread and its photos. That way, nothing competes with the mirror, the candles or the moment of yes.
Long, late evenings
Dinner at an aroosi can run late, and the dancing often runs later. So we plan our hours around your timeline, and our Persian wedding ideas stretch to fit a late night. Also, the team arrives one hour early to set up.
Alcohol in perfume
The standard bar makes an eau de parfum with perfumer's alcohol. If some guests prefer none, request attars when you book so we can prepare them.
Big family lists
Relatives often fly in from far away, so guest lists can run long. For 200 guests or more, the Signature format moves 85 to 100 people an hour.
Persian Wedding Ideas for Every Guest
Mix and match the bars below, then shape your own Persian wedding ideas around them. Each one is planned for a long reception and a guest list that spans generations.
Custom Perfume Bar
At the perfume bar, guests start from a base such as floral or musk, and signage can suggest blends inspired by rosewater. Then each guest leaves with an eau de parfum that smells of the evening.
Attars on Request
Some guests avoid alcohol in perfume. For them, attars (an alcohol-free perfume oil in a small bottle) are available on request, so mention it when you book.
Luxury Lip Lab
Our Lip Lab lets guests mix a lip gloss or lip color that works with their outfit. With 2 to 3 hosts, it serves about 100 guests in roughly 3 hours.
Luxury Candy Bar
The Luxury Candy Bar arrives on our candy carts. Share any dietary guidelines, such as gelatin-free candy, and we will talk through what we can find.
Classes and Consultations
Before the wedding, book a private fragrance consultation with our perfumer. Together you can design a personal scent, inspired by rosewater, for the aghd.
Persian Wedding Ideas Inspired by the Sofreh
The spread is full of meaning. So these ideas borrow its symbols for the party, while the sofreh itself stays your family's own.
A rosewater welcome
Some families greet guests with a sprinkle of rosewater at the door. Similarly, a Signature bar near the entrance lets guests pick a house scent as they arrive.
Mirror and candlelight styling
Clients usually dress our tables to match their theme. So unlit gold candlesticks or LED candles, plus a small mirror, can echo the sofreh's palette.
Sweet favors with your names
Honey and sugar carry a wish for a sweet life. In the same spirit, Persian wedding favors with both your names on the label make a fitting thank you. We order those custom labels at booking.
Two studios
A Mokena Studio Now and a Chicago Studio Next
Our Mokena studio opens in January 2027 at 19060 Everett Blvd, Suite 107. Its party room welcomes up to 40 guests, and families may bring their own food to the kitchen. So it suits a baleh boroon (the engagement party after both families agree) or a bridal shower.
Guests can also walk in, or book ahead, to make perfume or lip color. Later, a second studio is planned for Chicago, opening in late 2028. Until then, larger weddings get a mobile bar at their own venue.

How We Price Persian Wedding Ideas
Adult perfume bars begin at $500, and each event is quoted as a whole rather than per head. So the number reflects your bars, hours and guest count. Expect our reply within 2 business days.

Guests visit between courses and songs. Afterward, we pack everything and leave the room tidy.
Questions Families Ask Us
Do you set up the sofreh aghd?
No. The sofreh is your family's own, usually arranged by you or a sofreh designer. Our bars stay in the reception space.
Can the perfume feel like rosewater?
Ask us, and we will talk through floral blends. Guests start from one of six base styles, and signage can suggest blends inspired by rosewater.
Do you offer alcohol-free perfume?
Our standard bar makes an alcohol-based eau de parfum. However, attars are available on request when you book.
Can you come to a baleh boroon or engagement party?
Of course. A Mini perfume bar or Lip Lab works well for a smaller gathering at home or at our Mokena studio.
Will you work around a very late reception?
Yes. Tell us your timeline, and we will plan our hours to match the evening.
Can the labels show our names?
Yes. Custom labels with your names or date are a paid add-on, printed in advance, and ordered at booking.
Do you bring music or food?
No. Your own vendors handle music, catering and decor. We focus on the perfume bar and our beauty bars.
Are you also planning Nowruz?
We would love to help. Our Nowruz party ideas page shows how the bars fit a spring new year gathering.
