Arab Weddings · Scent and Hospitality
Welcome Every Wedding Guest the Way Your Family Always Has
Arab wedding ideas often start with hospitality, and scent is part of that welcome. In many Arab homes, especially in the Gulf, Yemen and Iraq, guests are greeted with oud and bakhoor. Oud is a rich, woody fragrance from agarwood, and bakhoor is scented wood chips burned like incense. Some hosts even pass the incense burner, called a mabkhara, so guests can scent their clothes before they leave.
We do not burn bakhoor. Instead, our Arab wedding perfume bar carries that custom of scenting guests into the hall. Our standard bar makes an eau de parfum with perfumer's alcohol, and we say so up front. For families who avoid alcohol in perfume, attars are available upon request. Attars are traditional alcohol-free perfume oils, arranged when you book.

Scent, Hospitality and the Arab Wedding
Across the Arab world, a wedding celebrates two families, not only two people. Customs vary from Lebanon and Palestine to Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, the Gulf and North Africa. Even so, generosity is a common thread. Guests are fed well and greeted warmly. In many Gulf families, they are also sent home smelling of oud.
Oud comes from agarwood, a dark, resin-rich wood that forms inside certain trees. Its scent is deep, warm and long-lasting, and it is among the most treasured materials in perfumery. Bakhoor is often made from wood chips soaked in fragrant oils and resins, then warmed over charcoal. In fact, many families scent a room with it before guests arrive.
The wedding party itself often opens with the zaffa wedding procession. Drummers, dancers and sometimes horns lead the couple into the hall, while guests clap along. Then come the dabke (a line dance with stomping steps, popular in the Levant) and a long, lavish dinner. Also, many Muslim families hold the katb al-kitab (the Islamic marriage contract signing) on a separate day beforehand. Meanwhile, Arab Christian families often marry in church, then celebrate with the same zaffa, dabke and generous dinner.

Details We Plan Around for Your Wedding
Even the most beautiful Arab wedding ideas need practical planning. So we ask about these points early.
No burning on site
We do not burn bakhoor or incense. If your family plans to, please arrange it directly with your venue.
Alcohol and attars
Our standard eau de parfum uses perfumer's alcohol. Therefore, if your family prefers alcohol-free scent, request attars at booking.
Separate halls or seating
Some Arab weddings seat women and men apart, especially in Gulf families. Our event hosts are women, so the women's hall stays comfortable.
Large guest lists
Arab weddings often welcome hundreds of guests. For that size, the Signature format keeps the line moving.
Stations That Bring Arab Wedding Ideas to Life
Start with scent, then add one or two more stations. Each one can match your colors and your guest count.
Custom Perfume Bar
Our Full wedding perfume bar offers 120+ fragrances, plus a family of signatures for guests who would rather not blend. For a very large reception, the Signature format moves 85 to 100 guests an hour instead. Our bar carries oud, along with jasmine and sandalwood, for guests who love those classic notes.
Attars on Request
Attars upon request suit families who avoid alcohol in perfume. Like the oud oils many Gulf families treasure, they are worn straight on the skin.
Luxury Lip Lab
At the Lip Lab, guests mix lip gloss or lip color to match the evening. It suits the women's side of a hall or a bridal suite before the zaffa.
Luxury Candy Bar
Our Luxury Candy Bar on candy carts can echo the sweets tables many families love. Tell us your dietary guidelines, and we will talk through what we can source.
Digital Photo Booth
Our Digital Photo Booth captures gowns, family groups and the joy after the zaffa. Guests download photos right away, and you get the full gallery link later.
Classes and Consultations
Before the wedding, the bride or groom can book a private fragrance consultation with our perfumer. It is a lovely way to create a personal scent for the day.
Three Arab Wedding Ideas Built Around Scent
Each idea borrows from Arab hospitality. Then your colors and florals finish the look.
A Bar Where the Bakhoor Would Be
Place the perfume bar near the entrance, where a host might once have offered bakhoor. Signage can suggest warm, woody blends built on our masculine or sophisticated bases.
Gold Tower, Grand Hall
A gold dispenser tower on a luxury counter matches the grandeur of many Arab receptions. Then dress it in your colors with fresh florals and greenery.
Favors With Both Family Names
Custom labels can carry the couple's names and the wedding date. They are a paid add-on, printed in advance and ordered at booking.
Two studios
Mokena, Chicago and Your Wedding Venue
Most Arab weddings are far too large for a studio, so we come to your banquet hall, hotel ballroom or social hall. Please confirm that your venue allows outside vendors. We also travel to Milwaukee and Indianapolis, where we have teams.
For smaller moments, our Mokena studio opens in January 2027 at 19060 Everett Blvd, Suite 107. Its party room fits up to 40 guests for an engagement gathering or a bridal party, and the kitchen lets you bring your own food. Plus, a second studio is planned for Chicago, opening in late 2028.

Pricing a Wedding Perfume Bar
Adult perfume bars start at $500 and are quoted per event, never per head. Then guest count, format and extra stations shape the final number. We answer every inquiry within 2 business days.
See every number on our pricing page.
