Small Gatherings in Mokena: Why a Five-Guest Perfume Bar Shines
Small gatherings in Mokena hold a special place in my heart. When only a handful of guests sit around the table, every question gets answered, every guest gets my full attention, and every scent tells a story.
Not long ago, we brought our perfume bar to a five-person gathering in a cozy Mokena living room. It turned into one of my favorite kinds of events: part party, part workshop, and full of discovery.

A small gathering in Mokena, up close
Five guests, one long coffee table and a perfume bar. That was the whole setup. Instead of a quick spritz and go, this group wanted to dig in, so we treated the afternoon like a relaxed workshop.
Each guest made two to three custom blends, guided by our scent bar and blending guides. By the end, everyone had a favorite and a story about how they got there.
For a small group that wants to learn, tell us when you book. We will plan more time at the bar and fewer stations around it.
Small groups are welcome
We host events from 5 guests up. Most Saturdays need six to eight weeks, and May, September and December need longer. If your date is sooner, reach out anyway. We have a large team of hosts and can often fit you in on short notice.
A hands-on scent journey
We started with the structure of a perfume. Every fragrance has top notes, heart notes and base notes. Top notes are the bright smells you notice first, and they fade quickly. Heart notes are the body of the perfume. Base notes are the deep, lasting ones that stay on skin for hours.
From there, guests learned how each layer unfolds over time, and why a blend can smell one way in the bottle and another way twenty minutes later on the wrist.
We talked about mood and memory, too. A whiff of something can bring back a grandmother's kitchen or a summer at the lake. And because skin chemistry plays a part, the same perfume can smell a little different on each person. Watching guests discover their own scent was the best part of the afternoon.
Sweet distractions for the little ones
Our host thought of everything. Alongside the perfume bar, she booked our Luxury Candy Bar, with premium sweets in glass apothecary jars on one of our candy carts.
While the grown-ups blended, the kids were happily busy with colorful treats. It was the perfect balance: fun for every age, and no interruptions during the blending. You can see the mobile candy bar here.
Why small gatherings in Mokena are so powerful
I love these small events. They make room for deeper conversations, personal guidance and a richer understanding of the craft. Guests asked thoughtful questions and tried unexpected pairings they might never have attempted at a busy reception.
Everyone left with a beautiful perfume and a new appreciation for the artistry behind it. That bottle is an eau de parfum, a perfume-strength spray made at 50% fragrance material to perfumer's alcohol, in a 15 ml or 20 ml size.

How to plan a small perfume gathering of your own

Adult events start at $500, quoted per event, and kids parties start at $475. Your living room, kitchen island or dining table is all the space we need.
One note: we do not record individual formulas at event bars. If a guest falls for her blend and wants it remade someday, a one-to-one fragrance consultation records the formula. It is $650 and takes place at your home, or at our Mokena studio once it opens in January 2027.
Coming soon: a small-gathering room in Mokena
In January 2027, our first studio opens here in Mokena. It includes a private party room for up to 40 guests, already dressed in decor, fabrics and florals.
Until then, we bring the perfume bar to you. Bridal showers, glam parties, birthdays or a quiet afternoon with friends all work beautifully. Read more about how a perfume bar works for events.
How booking works
- Share the basics. Send your date, venue, rough guest count and occasion through the booking form.
- Get your proposal. We reply within two business days with an itemized proposal. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Sign and set your count. After you sign, your guest count can go up but not down, so book your lowest expected count.
- Meet your team. A week before the gathering, you receive your host details and arrival time.
- Gather and blend. We arrive one hour before start time to set up, guide every guest, then pack out and clean up.
