A Girl Scout Troop Activity With Real Perfumery
Looking for a Girl Scout troop activity that feels fresh, hands-on, and a little bit grown up? Glitters & Grace brings real perfumery to your troop, where girls smell real materials, learn how a perfume is built, and blend one of their own.
It works at your regular meeting spot or at our Mokena studio. Either way, a host leads the whole session, so leaders get a well-earned break.

- Trained perfumer & formulator
- A host at every station
- Ages 5 and up
- Setup & cleanup included
A Girl Scout Troop Meeting Idea That Engages the Senses
Most meetings lean on talking, writing, or crafts. Perfumery adds something new: smell.
Girls sniff, compare, and describe what they notice. They learn that a perfume has layers, sometimes called notes (the different scents that show up as a fragrance unfolds). Then they put that idea to work at the blending table.
It is an easy Girl Scout troop meeting idea because it mixes a little learning with a lot of fun. Girls practice describing, choosing, and sharing their opinions with friends. Even quiet girls find their voice when the question is simply, "Which one smells like summer to you?"

How the Session Flows
Here is a typical outline. We adjust the pace for younger and older girls.
- Welcome and smelling. The host introduces a few scents and asks girls what they notice.
- How perfume is built. A short, friendly look at how scents layer together.
- Blend time. Each girl blends her own perfume from kid-friendly scents. Signage suggests blends for anyone who would rather not start from scratch.
- Name it and take it home. Girls name their creation and leave with their own bottle.
Everything made at the perfume bar is an eau de parfum (a strong, long-lasting perfume strength) made with perfumer's alcohol. So it is a real perfume, not a toy.
Made by a trained perfumer
Every station was designed by our founder, Cheryl Gleason, a trained perfumer and cosmetic and skincare formulator who trained with master perfumer Karen Gilbert, at the Institute for Art and Olfaction, and through courses and workshops around the world. We ask about allergies when you book, and your contract covers allergen disclosures.

Brownie Troop Activity or Older Girls
A Brownie troop activity needs to be clear, quick, and cheerful. Our hosts keep steps short, offer suggested blends, and give plenty of help.
A Junior troop activity can go further. Older girls tend to love experimenting, comparing their blends, and giving their perfume a creative name.
Our kids experiences are for ages 5 and up, so most troop levels fit. Teens get the fuller perfume lab experience, blending from many more fragrance materials. Learn more on our kids and teens perfume party page.
A Scout Troop Field Trip to Our Mokena Studio
A scout troop field trip to our studio gives girls a change of scenery. The studio has a party room and a kitchen, and troops can bring their own snacks.
It is just minutes from Homer Glen, Lockport, New Lenox, Frankfort, Orland Park, and Tinley Park. See photos and details on our Mokena studio page.
Prefer to stay put? We also come to your usual meeting place anywhere in Chicagoland, Milwaukee, or Indianapolis, with local hosts in each market. Families or leaders provide tables, or we bring them for a small fee.
Troop Party Ideas for the End of the Year
Wrapping up the year or celebrating a big troop milestone? Perfumery makes a memorable choice among troop party ideas, because every girl leaves with something she made.
You can round out a troop outing for girls with more stations:

Bath
Bath bombs to take home.
Candy
A candy cart for a festive finish.
Photo Booth
A digital booth for troop photos.
Customized decor and personalized signage can carry your troop colors, too. For more celebration ideas, see our kids beauty party page.
