We bring a fully staffed perfume bar to your home or venue across the Indy metro. Every guest blends a custom fragrance and bottles it to take home. No travel fee, and yes — we know what May looks like here.

What is an Indianapolis perfume bar?

An Indianapolis perfume bar is a hosted fragrance station brought to your home or venue, where each guest blends a custom eau de parfum from a scent library and bottles it to take home. It runs one to two hours as an open station, so guests take part when they want rather than sitting down together.

Glitters & Grace brings everything — the scent library, equipment, styling and hosts. An Indianapolis perfume bar starts at around $500, with no travel fee anywhere in Marion, Hamilton, Boone, Hendricks or Johnson counties. Every fragrance is formulated by trained perfumers in our own lab.

Indianapolis has an event calendar unlike anywhere else we work, and the reason is a single month. May belongs to the 500, and the whole city reorganises around it.

Consequently, parties cluster before and after race weekend rather than during it. Planners who do not know that lose two good weekends trying to compete with the largest single-day sporting event in the world.

Meanwhile the rest of the year has its own rhythm. Summer moves around Grand Park tournament weekends in Westfield. Autumn brings the Zionsville Fall Festival. December fills quickly around the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, which has become one of the busiest stretches on our Indy calendar.

In short, we plan around your city rather than asking your city to plan around us. Send us a date and we will tell you honestly what is realistic.

May and December book differently here.

Race month and the Christkindlmarkt stretch both fill early. However, the weekends either side of them are often wide open.

Book an Indianapolis perfume bar in the right time zone

Indianapolis runs on Eastern Time. That sounds obvious until you are booking a vendor from Chicago, which is Central.

We also serve Northwest Indiana, which is Central, so we confirm the time zone in writing on every Indy proposal. Therefore when we say an 11am start, we mean 11am your time. In practice this is the single most common way an out-of-market vendor gets an Indianapolis event wrong.

Beyond that, the practical questions are the usual ones. Because a perfume bar is dry, contained and needs only a table, it works in a Meridian-Kessler dining room as easily as in a Carmel event space. In addition, several of our stations run without power at all.

Finally, everyone leaves with something they made. As a result, the activity and the favor become one line item rather than two.

"In Indianapolis, the first thing we put in writing isn't the price. It's the time zone."

Where we set up

Where an Indianapolis perfume bar sets up

One table is all we need. Meanwhile, we work to whatever your venue requires.

Most Indy bookings happen at home, on a single table.

At home

Carmel · Zionsville · Fishers · Westfield · Meridian-Kessler

A kitchen island or dining table is enough, and we bring our own table if yours is spoken for by food. Because Hamilton County homes tend to be newer and more open-plan, the setup usually sits comfortably in a great room without moving anything.

We arrive about an hour early, style the bar completely, and pack out with the table as we found it. Consequently the host does nothing except point us at a surface.

  • About 12 x 6 feet, two 6-foot tables and a standard outlet
  • Setup and full cleanup always included
  • No travel fee across the metro

At a venue

Carmel Arts & Design District · Downtown & Mass Ave · Hamilton County clubs

The Indy metro has an unusual amount of good event space for its size — the Arts & Design District in Carmel, Zionsville's brick Main Street, the Bottleworks and Mass Ave corridors downtown, and member clubs throughout Hamilton and Boone counties.

We issue certificates of insurance naming your venue at no charge, and we coordinate load-in windows directly with their team. Therefore you are not relaying messages between us.

  • Certificates of insurance provided free
  • We work directly with your planner or venue coordinator
  • We do not serve food, so we never touch an F&B minimum

How it runs

How an Indianapolis perfume bar works

Four stages, about ninety minutes end to end. Nothing needs preparing in advance.

1

We set up

First, we arrive about an hour before you want to start and style the bar completely. Nobody has to be ready when we get there.

2

Choose a base

Then each guest picks a base style to build on. Signage suggests combinations, so nobody stares at a blank page.

3

Blend and test

Next, layer from the scent library, testing on paper and adjusting. Two to four minutes each, and guests can return.

4

Bottle it

Finally, fill and cap your own bottle and take it home the same day. Afterward we pack out completely.

Every perfume made is an eau de parfum at 50–60% fragrance material to perfumer's alcohol. In other words, it is a genuine concentration rather than a scented water, which is why it is still with you at the end of the evening.

Match it to your room

Indianapolis perfume bar sizing, by guest count

Headcount changes the right answer more than budget does. So here is how we would scope an Indy booking.

8–20

One station, one host. Everyone gets real time at the bar. For instance, a Zionsville dining room or a small private room works perfectly at this size.

20–50

One station, two hosts. The most common Indy booking. Meanwhile the line keeps moving and nobody waits more than a few minutes.

50–150

Two stations. Because one holds guests while the other moves them, the room never bottlenecks. Consequently this is what we recommend for a Carmel event space.

150+

Multi-station, expanded team. Placed deliberately across the floor plan with staffing scaled to your run of show. Therefore traffic spreads rather than queues.

What should you budget?

Indianapolis perfume bar bookings start at around $500. From there, pricing scales with guest count, station count, staffing and time on site. Meanwhile custom labels and additional branding are itemized separately, so nothing appears as a surprise on the invoice.

There is no travel fee anywhere in Marion, Hamilton, Boone, Hendricks or Johnson counties. In addition, there are no service fees and no automatic gratuity.

Areas we serve

Indianapolis perfume bar service area

Marion, Hamilton, Boone, Hendricks and Johnson counties, on the same terms throughout.

Carmel

The Arts & Design District, the Palladium and Carmel Clay homes. In practice, our busiest single pocket in the metro.

Zionsville

The brick Main Street and the village around it. Because the spaces here are small and characterful, a compact setup matters.

Fishers & Westfield

The Nickel Plate District and Grand Park. Therefore summer weekends here move around tournament schedules.

Meridian-Kessler & Broad Ripple

Older near-north homes and the Village. Consequently we plan the load-in around narrower doors and street parking.

Downtown & Mass Ave

Bottleworks, Fountain Square and downtown hotels. Meanwhile dock access and freight lifts get arranged in advance.

Noblesville, Geist & beyond

Plus Brownsburg, Avon, McCordsville and Greenwood. All inside our no-travel-fee area.

Why Glitters & Grace

A trained perfumer, not a rented table

Cheryl Gleason has been building perfume bars and formulating fragrance for over a decade. She is a trained perfumer and a cosmetic and skincare formulator. Furthermore, every accord and formula we bring to Indianapolis was composed in her own lab.

That matters for practical reasons. For example, a guest will ask what is in the bottle, and our hosts can answer. Someone will mention a sensitivity, and we have full disclosures ready. Finally, the host will ask what happens if everyone arrives at once — and we have already staffed for it.

We work with absolutes, CO2 extracts and essential oils rather than the pre-blended fragrance oils sold for candles and soap. As a result, what your guests make actually wears like a fragrance.

Before you ask

Indianapolis perfume bar: common questions

How much is an Indianapolis perfume bar?

From around $500. Pricing scales with guest count, station count, staffing and time on site. Materials, take-home bottles, hosts, styling, setup and cleanup are all included. Moreover, there is no travel fee across the metro, no service fee and no automatic gratuity.

What time zone do you work in?

Eastern Time, the same as Indianapolis and Hamilton County. Because we also serve Northwest Indiana, which runs on Central, we confirm the zone in writing on every proposal. Therefore an 11am start means 11am your time.

Do you charge a travel fee to come to Indianapolis?

No. Indianapolis is one of our three core markets, so there is no travel fee anywhere in Marion, Hamilton, Boone, Hendricks or Johnson counties. In addition, our pricing is the same here as in Chicago.

Which Indy areas do you serve?

The whole metro. That includes Carmel, Zionsville, Fishers, Westfield, Noblesville, Geist, McCordsville, Brownsburg, Avon and Greenwood, plus Meridian-Kessler, Butler-Tarkington, Broad Ripple, downtown and Mass Ave.

Can you work around race weekend in May?

Yes, and we plan for it rather than around it. May reorganises the whole city, so bookings cluster before and after race weekend instead of during. Consequently those adjacent weekends fill first. However, if you want the race weekend itself, ask early and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

How far in advance should we book?

Six to eight weeks for most Saturdays. Meanwhile May and December book considerably further out, because of race month and the Carmel Christkindlmarkt. In practice, the quieter stretches are late winter and early autumn.

How much space do you need?

About 12 x 6 feet, two 6-foot tables and a standard outlet. Several stations run without power at all. Furthermore, we bring our own tables if yours are spoken for, and a kitchen island works fine.

Do you provide a certificate of insurance?

Yes, naming your venue, at no charge. We also coordinate load-in windows and dock access directly with the venue team. In addition, we do not serve food, so we never touch a venue's food and beverage minimum.

Is it messy? It's at our house.

No — it is the tidiest thing we do. Perfume blending is dry and contained, using pipettes, small beakers and paper testing strips on a covered surface. Afterward we pack out with the table exactly as we found it.

What occasions do people book it for?

Bridal and baby showers, bachelorette weekends, milestone birthdays, corporate events and holiday parties. Meanwhile it also works for girls nights, retirements and family gatherings. In short, anything where a room of mixed ages needs something to do together.

May and December fill first in Indy

We take a limited number of events per date in each market. After all, a fully staffed, fully styled station cannot be in two rooms at once. In practice, the weekends either side of race month and the Christkindlmarkt stretch go earliest. Therefore secure the date before you finalize the rest.
